Kaiser Aluminum & Chemicals, major Aluminum producer, successfully implemented the TOS workforce management system solution in three of its manufacturing plants located in Trentwood, WA, Mead, WA and Gramercy, LA.
Kaiser Aluminum has been a user of the TOS workforce management system since 1996, managing its union labor force in its three plants. Cetec and Kaiser Aluminum teamed to combine the resources needed for such a task. Now TOS is a major component of Kaiser’s cost control process. Improved labor utilization equipped the company with the tools needed to complement its growth and enhance its workforce management and shop floor operations in its primary metal fabrication facilities in the US.
LGG&E US headquarters are located in Louisville, KY. The Company began using the TOS system in 1999 and installed the system in five of its US subsidiary companies. A workforce of more than 10,000 employees are now using the TOS System.
It’s extended flexibility and adaptability to various rules and profiles furnished LG&E a suitable product for integration with its PeopleSoft Payroll and HR system. TOS’s integration capability with Oracles’ project accounting made the product more valuable to LG&E. This integration allowed LG&E’s management personnel to track project and budget status in real-time, reducing excessive overhead and potential errors caused by manual time entry and time balance. TOS time optimization processes proved valuable to LG&E and its subsidiaries.

Rappahannock Electric was unable to reduce its labor management and exhaustive time handling cost until they have installed the Cetec TOS system, supporting direct integration with Lawson, their product reporting, payroll/HR and cost accounting system.
On-line integration with Lawson was provided in this installation to achieve paperless flow of information between Cetec’s TOS system and Lawson’s systems. Rappahannock has successfully implemented the system throughout its facilities allowing Cetec to provide a new product upgrade while the installation is in progress. This added value product provided Rappahannock. Labor scheduling provides managers and supervisor the ability to assign employees to work by skill and skill level improving workforce utilization.

Based upon its success at Rappahannock Electric, Northern Virginia Electric (NOVEC) selected Cetec to install its TOS workforce management system is support of its labor operations and work time reporting.
Novec is also using the Lawson system for its accounting, payroll/HR production tracking. All of its service jobs are released and contained in the Lawson database. For this reason, Cetec implemented a direct access module to validate jobs reported against the Lawson database. This facility is intended to reduce reporting errors and excessive handling of labor time. TOS reconciles work performed with attendance time line for each employee to create accurate cost allocation and update Lawson’s cost accounting system.
