Rules-based Decision Support Logic (RDSL)

PROFILE RULES
A Rules-based Decision Support Logic (RDSL) is imbedded in every application supported by the TOS Workforce Time Optimization Series, and used to optimize the execution of a variety of functions found in attendance tracking, time adjustment, gross-pay calculations, cost allocation and demand initiated scheduling. This powerful “Rules-based Engine” was developed by Cetec Automation to achieve maximum customization and adaptation while at the same time reducing deployment and rollout cost at the installation site. The comprehensive use of the RDSL in time optimization processes allows customer to perform future modification of pay rules and practices in response to changes dictated by negotiated bargaining agreement, changes in Federal and State laws pertinent to gross-pay calculations, work assignment, entitlements and employees scheduling. Employees such members of a collective bargaining agreement are identified by a rules profile, and number of profile can exist in a single installation in which each profile may contain different rules sets depending upon work, shift and pay conditions.

Once employees report to work or begin a job run, profile rules take effect and the employee workday time-line is established based upon rule parameters used to generate attendance and job exceptions. Exceptions reported to managers and supervisors are resolved easily. Once resolved and matched with applicable rules they are then processed to create reconciled and balance time and job records. Approval of such records initiates the process of time adjustment, which creates daily gross-pay balances for any number and variety of employee’s profiles. Weekly or pay-period adjustment creates consistent and accurate pay time summary records for payroll update. Job records create balanced order fulfillment time line records by operation, to be reconciled with gross-pay records. Throughout the adjustment process the RDSL rules-engine monitors compliance to the rules and rule parameters setup at time of installation. In excess of 700 rules can be altered in a labor intensive installation site.

Entitlement scheduling, shift rotations and demand scheduling in particular apply a variety of rules to ensure accurate calculations of pay and no-pay time-off are performed, and the skill-based assignment of employees within their schedules to work locations and open work demand. RDSL advanced logic shared by all applications allows users to change one setup that may effect all applications used at the installation site. This feature reduces cumbersome administration effort, often found in similar software systems. Ease of modification and no re-coding of applications logic, virtually eliminates cumbersome maintenance, improves stability and enhances customer’s return on investment.
